Will certainly take up much of your advice.

struong73: Good to hear of real-life experiences with the Nolan - I'm familiar with the flashing you're talking about, where about half of the guttering at the rear of the garage butts up against the house. Will pay particular attention to make sure there's no leaks, though we'll probably have to wait for some heavy rain to check for that!

anonymous: just checked our final contract, it was a provisional sum, so I'm assuming the CSC will have to provide a detailed invoice for the amount used in order to claim against it. Never had to claim on any credits - only now that we're finishing are these things going to be raised, so I'll keep everyone informed on what happens.T&Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13444351220885130201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-475803884920956551.post-30674449997308643872010-08-11T15:16:36.102+10:002010-08-11T15:16:36.102+10:00"and minus an unknown amount for "cranag..."and minus an unknown amount for "cranage provision".

T&T was this a provisional sum? I had many fights for M to remove this as a set amount, which I eventually failed on. There are a number of things they have put in out site costs that just have not been done - neighbour protection, tiger tailing, etc. What are you experiences in getting credits on these?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-475803884920956551.post-69338172702017638852010-08-11T14:58:10.537+10:002010-08-11T14:58:10.537+10:00Hi there, 1 major problem with the Nolan is the fl...Hi there, 1 major problem with the Nolan is the flashing between the back of the garage and the house. My friend and I both built the Nolan and we both have the same problem. Water was coming into our garage because they didn't pack the flashing properly and it took them 6 month to figure this out and all that time keep telling us because of heavy rain. Don't ever take their answer as a yes, always research and demand for the fix!!!stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13052938697947266097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-475803884920956551.post-14480971099363349552010-08-10T19:23:27.743+10:002010-08-10T19:23:27.743+10:00Here are some tips that i used to notice when i wa...Here are some tips that i used to notice when i was on the worksites.

Some things you might want to bring along with you include:
Independent Inspector
Light globes
Electrical socket tester (can get for about $10)
Cloth (to check for scratches on bench tops, etc)
Contracts and plans.
Bucket
Level
Mirror
Ladder
Torch
Spare box of dots
Things to look for:

*Check that all taps work and no leaks
*Check that basins drain properly and there are no leaks underneath (ie, the trap)
*Check to see if doors and archtraves have been painted above and underneath
*Check to see if locks work correctly
*Check door handles and levels
*Check you have all bath plugs
*Flush toilets
*Fill the bathtub with water and let it sit.(if it has no support a fibreglass bath will tend to make a cracking noise).
*Run showers on full, check water drains away and doesnt pool
*Check ceiling paint for patches (especially where paint your light have been moved)
*Get up in the manhole, check all insulation has been layed
*Check to see if copper solar panel piping has lagging on it.
*Check fit off of down pipes
*Check all clips are on down pipes (should be about 1 every meter)
*Check facia and gutters for scratches (touch-up paint is not recommended as it fades at a different rate)
*Check caulking around external doors
*Pour water down each downpipe and have someone see if they can hear it drain away at the front of property (ie no blockages in the pipe)
*Check to see if there are any dint scratches, cracks anywhere in the house.
*Natural light also includes turning on light switches if it is too dark.
*Check all the brickwork, paint work, mortar, flashings, finish around windows, cleanliness of site, installation of termite treatment and the painting of the downpipe adaptor (adaptor at ground level that connects to the storm water pipe)
Make sure no rehau pipe (water or gas) is exposed to sunlight (it is not UV stabilised)

Biggest advice, take you time and go slowly.
Make sure ALL of your concerns are noted down and not skipped over. Don't feel that you have to hurry no matter what the SS says.
Dont move onto the next room until you are completely satisfied.Syrushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10665020136916965761noreply@blogger.com
